Fox and Dog Coffee, Erie’s new place to meet
Fox and Dog Coffee is Erie’s new coffee shop, located in the historic downtown area. It has lots of seating in a roomy lobby that is well-lighted and not deafening. Most coffee shops these days have a lobby without ceiling tile, which cuts down on the noise. As a result, you are inclined to stay longer, and you will end up buying a locally made pastry to go with your expertly made drink.

I noticed what added to the wonderful lighting is a garage door that is made of glass. This also serves as a great way to let in fresh and cooler air in the late spring and summer months.
Fox and Dog is the creation of Ben and Stephanie Hauser; they wanted to offer a community space that offers great coffee, outstanding service, and a gathering space to build relationships. From my perspective, they have succeeded. I found the coffee to be excellent and the service first-rate. The barista I met was professional and friendly. I noticed that quite a few of the customers there were there for the point of meeting friends for a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning when I was there.
Fox and Dog Coffee is into keeping it local; their daily drip is sourced from local roasters that rotate every month, so you will get to try all Front Range coffee in Colorado, which is not a bad way to expand your coffee pallet. As for the espresso, it is Purple Door Coffee who gets the honor. I found Purple Door to be an excellent choice.
My recommendation for Fox and Dog Coffee is a big YES! It is a community coffee shop that will make you feel welcome and part of the town.
